the analysis at 2 minutes and 5 seconds is wrong he doesnt get checkmated after knight takes e5 check black moves his king to h8.then white moves his knight to f7 check which black responds to by playing king to g8.white moves knight to h6 check and black moves his king back to h8.now according to your analysis white simply plays queen to g8 check followed by mate after black takes with the rook but black can take the white queen with the knight and the rook defends mate and white is down a large amount of material.

Sorry you didn't win this one after coming so close against such a strong player. However, your commentary on the pawn endgame was very instructive! Initially, it looks so innocent that it's hard to credit that both sides have to play very precisely to avoid a loss.

congratulations on drawing an 'stronger player' (always put your opponents's ratings in quotation marks regardless), you could have won or even lost the game as you already know, but always giving your opponents a 'run for their money' that's what's important

note: e5! and Qe4! both very nice moves

note: careful playing KIA with d3 kind of set up against the dutch (1.Nf3 f5 2.d4 +-) (in the game it took you two tempos to place your pawn to d4, it would have save you a tempo had you played 2.d4 right away)

Great lecture!

One small note, in the line with Kxc5 and Kxf3, isn't Black able to draw by moving the king instead of 52...h5? In fact, on 51. Kd5, doesn't he also queen with check?

Oh man... wow... congrats on the draw/save, first with the e6 idea and second in the endgame! Wow.

True. Fortunately Qg8+ isn't forced. :)

Thanks for the comments, guys. I wish I had done a better job analyzing this game, as it was a complex one. I was just so excited about drawing a master that I wanted to make a video immediately.

You're all correct about everything you said as far as I can tell. If I get a chance to play this guy again with the white pieces, he'll be better prepared, so I fear that I missed my big chance to come away with a full point against him. Oh well! We'll see.

My analysis was incorrect, but I think white should still be in good shape there after 52.Kd6! (the same freakin' move I missed later in the endgame).
