Hi

No need to thank me. I make video's as a hobby. I get games from club members and post them on You Tube. You were asking for hints etc. I'm an obliging chap. I would point out though that since I have started making video analyses of my games my performance has sudenly skyrocketed. This after over 16 years of study. I don't quite have your collection of chess stuff but I have a massive chess library.

My FIDE grade languished at around 1000-1100 for almost 13 years despite lengthy study. I then started playing weekend tournaments and suddenly, and nobody was more surprised than me, I won one! 4.5 out of 5. My grade shot up by over 200 points and then the next season by another 100. I then slumped a bit but since I started making the video's, which involves in-depth analysis of each game I have been getting fantastic results. In my club championship I crushed a much stronger player rated 1660 and followed it up by beating a 1606 player. I then entered the Perth major tournament and got 4 draws, all against higher rated players. To cap this I play in the national league in the bottom division. I faced a player who was graded at 1747. This must be it I thought my run would end, especially when I dropped a pawn in the opening. I found a resource and drew! In the afternoon round I faced another higher rated player and drew easily and should have done better. I had gone 10 games without defeat.

There has to be a reason for this as I'm not a natural player. I think books like Amateurs mind are a great help but there is a catch. You can absorb Silman's book quite easily. However it just remains in your head. I think the secret is applying this learning to your own games. Just like the way I did with your game. You then begin to see more things in positions within your own games. Then the improvement starts. That's why I would encourage you to keep making video's.

Oh, and play proper over the board games with proper time limits.
