I think Qc2 is the classical line of the Nimzo and completely sound. Didn't like your sac tho. g5 was really weakening for black but the sac wasn't right. I've gone for this myself tho. Generaly you should be after 3 pawns for a minor piece sac or a decisive attack. I didn't think your opponent played the opening very well. If he plays b6 and puts his B on b7 then Nc6 doesn't make sense as it blocks it in. as there was a pin on the N on f6 he maybe should have played d6 and then Nd7 supporting the f7N with a solid position.

The point about the Nimzo is that black wants to avoid an open position because he has given up the B pair. He wants a closed position with good squares for his N's.

Your board was really small and difficult to see. I was straining to folow the game. Maybe cos my eyes weren't what they used to be. Any way of sorting this Bullrock?

The knight sac wasn't sound, but one cannot learn without experiences. I don't normally sacrifice pieces without a clear goal, but I thought that in this case, it would be fun and if not winning, then at least it would be educational. This was not one of my better games, especially since the endgame was mine to win, but I failed.

The board is small in Babaschess. I have not figured out a way to make the board larger and still show Crafty's analysis. I suppose I could do a little extra work before a video and write down what crafty suggested at key moments in the game and have that on hand while I make the video. Then, I can make the board larger and easier to follow. This is something I will do in the future if a better solution can't be found.

If anyone knows whether the board can be resized within Babaschess while still showing Crafty's analysis, I sure would like to know that secret!

Hey dspsp123! Welcome to Chessvideos.tv! I won't be playing on FICS anymore since I've now been introduced to Chess.com where you can play correspondence chess. So, come on over to Chess.com and join our Chessvideos.tv group there and you can play against me and anyone else.

Hey, I just came from Babaschess where I met dspsp. I searched his username on the forums and came across this game.

It's always tempting for me as well to sac a piece when the opponent has jetted out his pawns like that, even though it isn't strategically sound. It would probably have better results in blitz/lightning games.

Anyway, to the reason I am posting:

It was cool to see crafty's analysis numbers for each move of the game. To make the board bigger, though, you can close the "info window" on the right side. You can drag down the "Chat / Comment / Analysis / Observers" tab as well which will increase the board's size.

Not sure if this will help, but since you're on Babaschess it wouldn't hurt to try "Alt+Enter" which will put you into Full Screen mode.

Always nice to see a fellow Queen's Gambit player : ) Take care.

Hey, thanks for the tips on how to make the board bigger in babaschess, I will try it out to see if it helps. I also like to see Crafty's analysis of each position.

Alas, those tips did not seem to help. There doesn't seem to be any way to increase the board size without going into full screen mode where crafty's analysis is no longer visible.
