Nothing makes you feel like a badass more than winning a simul eh?

Well did about 45 minutes of cts today, got my rating all the way up to 1626 or so (a point or two away from a new high ) then played for too long (got really drowsy) and went back down to 1623 I need to learn when to stop when I'm ahead on cts and whatnot.

Nice work on the simul! Is your team going to use the money to go to a tournament?

Well we're planning on splitting the money between a interschool tournament and buying a couple chess clocks for said tournament.
So hopefully yes, although we are still in the negotiation stage.

Congrats on your new high! Any day now you'll make Master on CT.
And... "an hour minutes"? I like that.

Saw yesterday:
Carlito's Way 9/10: I consider this one of DePalma's best films. It is brilliantly acted (Al Pacino and Sean Penn were both spectatular (Oscar Nominee worthy), as was Penelope Anne Miller) and directed and that's what really holds the movie together. The storyline line itself is compelling but sadly flawed. Regardless, still a very good film and worth checking out.
The Apartment 10/10: This was the movie (along with Glengarry Glen Ross) that made me a big Jack Lemmon fan although the movie in general is very well acted especially by the other two big leads. It's also well directed and scripted (the whole sequence about using the tennis racket to drain spagetti is great). Overall, it's one of the greatest comedies and a undoubtable masterpeice.

Hmm, sounds like you're starting to prefer CT. Any particular reason?
Also I've never seen The Apartment, but now I'm definitely going to check it out

Well did another hour or so of tactics today (no big changes in rating though if I remember correctly) and then went to the library chess club. Played two serious games against Rob, he tried the Recipe against me so I played the Danielsen's Recipe which quickly transposed into a improved stonewall ended up trading down to only major peices, then I found a f5 pawn break that just shattered his position, really proud that I saw the pawn sac that he completely missed Second game didn't go so well, was a French Tarrasch Nf6 variation with me as black of course and I came out of the opening fine, then I unfortunatley mixed up two different plans in the middle game but thankfully was able to go into the endgame only down a bit (mostly structurally) due to some creative defense. But Rob played the ending beautifully (mad props for that) and won soundly. Due to lack of time we played a blitz final game (I suck at blitz (compared to my normal playing level)) which ended up being one of black's crazy gambit lines in the Danielsen Recipe where if I play correctly I win, if I don't I lose. Sadly, I didn't (missed a key defensive move) and eventually lost, but in normal games again came out equal (I'm about +5-3=2 my last five games against him ) so overall think I played pretty well.

What is the Recipe? Is this some sort of newfangled opening?
