so basically black is forced to trade the queens to survive:

3 ... - Qd7
4 Nxh6+ - gxh6
5 Qxd7 - Bxd7
6 Bxa5

then it is chess piece advantage instead of a mate possibility.

I assume your solution is wrong (maybe the wrong knight check in the beginning?), because you consider 3...Qd7 as trade of queens.
The right solution is
1 Ngf7+ Rxf7
2 Bd8 Qb8
3 Nxf7+ Kg8
4 Nxh6+ gxh6
and now as you described 5 Qe8+ leads to mate, but the machine insists in playing Bxa5 and it took me 5 tries to find that one...

Therefore, the solution is indeed incorrect, because it does not consider the mate in the end.
But it's a nice puzzle!

you are right I made a mistake in that move sequence. I had mixed up 2 moves in my head the 2nd and 3rd from black. So the queen trade option does not exist.

I knew I missed something, it was the fact that the 3rd move of white was a check, and the black queen had already moved to b8.
