thanks again curtains for doing these. I always like to go through games quickly but to have an IM do it for me is so much more fun and instructive

Another great video, curtains. I'm definitely enjoying the beginning of the US Chess League. And I can't believe it, but I saw both of those missed mates after some time pausing the video.
If you had gone over the game and not said anything about the missed mates, I don't think I would have seen either though. Especially the second one, that knight on F5 looked like such a monster.

Take a look at John Readey's analysis of his game here: http://seattlesluggers.blogspot.com/ 28. Qh5 wasn't winning because Black doesn't have to take the Queen. His line (suggested by Serper) is 28.Qxh5 Qxa2+ 29.Kc2 Ra3! 30.Nc1 Rc3+ 31.Kd1 Qxb2 Black's attack crashes through.

entertaining and well-done.
seemed like you were going for a "Sports Center" vibe and the enthusiasm carried the video. even if you got owned for QxN.

btw in future weeks I will cut the videos into 2-3 segments, each dealing with different matches. I feel that they should be shorter, and those who are interested in specific teams should be able to have an easier time of finding them.

Thanks for this video series!! I have never heard of about the USCL before...but now I became a fan!! The hole conzept of the USCL seems to be much better than the German League, where you no rating Limit and so the the richest team wins ervery year (OSG Baden-Baden,average Elo Bord 1-8 2737). And of cause your style of commentary is amazing!!

That's a really high average, who's playing in it?

Re: curtains - USCL Week 1: Wednesday [25:22]
OSG Baden-Baden (2737) (Red players are german)
1. Viswanathan Anand (2798) 2. Magnus Carlsen (2775) 3. Alexej Schirow (2741) 4. Perter Swidler (2738) 5. Michael Adams (2735) 6. Sergej Movsesian (2723) 7. Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu (2692) 8. Etienne Bacrot (2691)
(of cause thy won´t play every game with the Top Team!! So here the other players)
9. Pentala Harikrishna (2668) 10. Arkadij Naiditsch (2665) 11. Perter Heine Nielsen (2652) 12. Francisco Vallejo (2650) 13. Fabianco Caruana (2630) 14. Rustem Dautov (2601) 15. Phillip Schlosser (2568) 16. Fabian Döttling (2562)
So...there are many Topstars... but less german players, no teamspirit and in my opinion it´s hard to identify with.
The ohter team are not as strong, but the problems are the same!!
Other teams
2. Werder Bremen (2676) 3. Sv Mühlheim Nord (2653) 4. TV Tegernsee (2628) 5. SC Remagen (2611) 6. Solinger SG (2598) 7. SF Katernberg (2594) 8. SC Eppingen (2588) 9.Sv Wattenscheid (2582) 10. Hamburger SK (2580) 11.Sc Trier (2556) 12. SC Kreuzberg (2545) 13. Turm Emsdetten (2515) 14. SF Berlin (2508) 15. Bayern München (2443) 16. USV TU Dresden (2393)

Re: curtains - USCL Week 1: Wednesday [25:22]
yea Ive found European leagues to be great specifically for the players, but kind of uninteresting otherwise, because there are only 1-2 teams that have any chance to win, and there seems to be almost no team spirit since the large majority of players are simply hired guns. I dunno, just my own personal feeling but I have basically zero interest in that kind of league, however you have to admit it's a good thing because it puts a lot of money directly into chessplayers' pockets.

Re: curtains - USCL Week 1: Wednesday [25:22]
Thx for the recaps. very enjoyable! I have to admit that even though I am a German I dont follow the German league. It's rather uninteresting. I mean, watching games played by strong players is fun but there is almost no coverage. Of course sometimes games are tansmitted live via internet but ...well...there are other things to do than to watch 5 hours of uncommented chess...like, playing chess myself. Such weekly recaps are a wonderful idea. However, I also agree that the "money"-thing is quite a good argument. At least the GM's are able to earn some money here.
