 Re: curtains - L220: B vs Thoth-returns [11:24]
please, no more unsolicited random opinions/advice from anonymous unrated people re: poker (shortstacking) or chess (ICC). just watch Curtains' videos, grovel when appropriate, and otherwise let him do his thing. thanks.

 Re: curtains - L220: B vs Thoth-returns [11:24]
the fact that he is "typing in commands" has nothing to do with the fact that he is playing on ICC and everything to do with the client software he is using. It is possible to make a fully featured ICC client without the need for a console, but what fun would that be? (in fact you can play using a standard telnet terminal if you are a real nerd) I'm a FICS (freechess.org) fan myself because I don't like the idea of paying a membership fee, however I wish there was a larger body of players on that server. Apparently the most popular server is actually yahoo's, which is SO LAME.
Also, try a google for "chess". The forth link will be one for NabiscoWorld.com's chess server(I have no idea why). They have this really stupid web interface that is like a really skewed 3d view and it is almost impossible to see what is going on on the board, it is pretty hilarious.

Free (and easy to access) servers will always be the most popular, especially ones connected to HUGELY popular sites. Hence we have so many people using the awful yahoo servers

Well wetpaste,
How about you go and try the playchess server for a months free trial and tell me if you don't think that its way better than icc.

oh btw curtains how come I don't see any new chess videos being posted by you. i watched a lot of the previous one and i must say they are very instructive... they take you into the mind of a IM while actually playing his game.... even if you don't switch to playchess, keep the great videos coming.

He's got a valid point tbh, I mean... you have FOUR pages of comments now . No way we'll be killing you any time soon now: you won't get it done so easily!! On the other hand... the subject of most posts probably only annoyed you... Don't you all bother Curtains so much with your wishywashy playchessserverposts! Time spent on replying to those = time not spend on chessgames. Moreover, would you really rather play on playchess when Curtains himself plays on ICC!? Where's the irrational support of your hero!?

 Re: curtains - L220: B vs Thoth-returns [11:24]
If a strong IM like curtains is telling you that ICC is the best on the scene I would believe him. And I am of the same opinion. Yeah, curtains plays at a very high level I mean it's 5min games, whatever that is worth, but its 5min games against the top players around the world who want to play in that time control. And it's mind boggling how much they (curtains and his peers) see in a 5min game to an amateur like me. If I'm playing a 5min game and I dont hang a piece at some point that is a decent game for me.

 Re: curtains - L220: B vs Thoth-returns [11:24]
???? How did you get to that conclusion? English is not my first language but I am sure the word is used in a lot of other different ways then the one you describe. for example: treat: a. To provide with food, entertainment, or gifts at one's own expense b. To give ( someone or oneself) something pleasurable source: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/treat
