Hope I'm not too incoherant in this video :D Just got back from work and was a bit tired.

I'm still not sure about this move order thing at the beginning, because if I play g6 then he plays Bf6 and my position is horrible. I guess then I have to play h6 and g5, when the king side is open, but I'm not yet castled. I'll have to check this out in the database to figure out the right way. Actually I'm not sure if it's possible to get the kind of setup I like without making some kind of concession.

The sound was very quiet on this one- very hard to hear what you were saying.

Yeah sorry I'm not sure why this is. About half way through the volume seems to jump up, but I didn't change anything.

5...Be7 looks like a no- brainer to me. Develop/defend/attack, all in one move, which should be what you want! Not some pre-programmed painting by numbers g6 regardless mind set.

For sure you're right. Normally I play for g6 to avoid ending up in some Schevenginer position after a delayed d4 (in one move) by white. But since he's already played d3 I didn't have to worry about this anymore.

More importantly by trying to play for g6 in this position I risked opening up my entire kingside. He let me off with his bishop retreat.

Lesson learned from this game? It's great to play a dragon setup, but only if the position allows for it. I thought you could play g6 against any closed sicilian setup, but the combination of ...e6 Bg5 seems to make it difficult.
