One move after your opponent castled and you played Bb3, why didn't you play Nxe6 forking his queen and rook forcing him to recapture your knight and then you take his dark squared bishop on c5? Does it lose to some tactics I'm missing?

Doesn't black just go ...Bxe6 and wins a piece? yes c5 is hanging but also c4 for white.

I meant after white moves Bb3 so that it is no longer hanging. Then white could win a pawn, right?

I notice that Nxe6 does win a pawn cos the last move was Bd7.

hi bruce, been watching your videos for sometime-keep up the good work-the second game with the tarrasch at the beginning seemed a bit similar to your match vs angus mcdonald.

hi bruce, i'm new to the site,i was wondering if you could help out a fellow scotsman by posting a game of mine and analysing it for me-i'm around 1500 rated and i think that it was a really up and down game full of many blunders in a 10 minute match.
This match was between myself against michael adam who was graded around 1350 at the time. at the time of the game i was 14 years old.

it would be most appreciated.

Sure will. I'm not that highly rated myself but if you want me to have a look I will. What's your real name? Do you play on the scottish circuit?

my name is Daniel maxwell but i prefer to be called maxwell.i've played in a few tournaments this year(lothians allegro, fair city kings and queens) with relative success and due to exams my grade hasn't risen as much as it should have as i have been preoccupied with revision. i've mainly entered minors to get myself used to tournament play and i feel i am vastly underated with a grade of 1062 and so i'm not allowed to enter the major event's due to my grade being as low as it is.i have been watching your videos on youtube and feel that i have improved through watching your videos. i have also been watching the videos of krakkaskak and greencastleblock and feel that their videos as well as yours are very instructive and helpful.

:D Nae bother Maxwell. You can enter any tournament you want irrespective of grade by the way. I did have a look at your game and you were very lucky. Do you want me o make a wee vid of it?

I would love it if you would make a video of the match
I didn't know that you could enter any tournament despite grade differences-thanks for telling me that.
i known i should of lost but there was just a lot of different way's i think that he could of played-he decided to finish me off too quickly with his queen and i think that he should of just regrouped.
i think on move 6 that i could of played qh5 with advantage- what do you think?. ne3 was such a huge shocker to me as i thought that i had dealt with the threat of rxg2+ or bxg2.
playing the king's gambit in a 10 minute match isn't a good idea i suppose as i don't normally play it in blitz if my opponent play's e5. anyhow i think that the match was a good, fun game to play. that was my opinion of the match .

Hi Maxwell

I've had 2 attempts at making vids of your game but having some technical hitches. It will definitely be worth posting tho,

Maxwell I've managed it and hope you find it useful.

Yeh the way tournaments work is that you are not allowed to enter if the grade limit is lower than yours. Even if your only 1000+ you could enter the Open if you wanted. it would be worth trying a major for the experience.
