Just to preface this by saying I don't watch all your vids so if you've covered this before sorry - but when you say you've been working on your positional game over the last couple weeks how exactly have you been doing this? My game is pretty lopsided atm and have been trying to work on the same thing but I'm not really sure how best to go about it. I have basically just been watching some videos from people I recognise as positional players (such as Khachiyan on chess.com) and hoping stuff will sink in. Are there any specific books you would recommend or things you do which you think help alot?

(Can't remember if you have seen any of my vids so if not fwiw I am 2200ish also, so looking for something beyond the basic put your pieces on good squares :D ).

Also just want to say its really cool that you are putting out these live + analysis games at such a pace as it can get pretty quiet with curtains being his somewhat sporadic self.

I am probably totally wrong here, but it looks like after Qf8, you had Rdh3 threatening mate in two, where if Kg8 then Rxh7 with Rh8+ to follow and if Q back to g7 then Rxh7+ QxR RxQ+ KxR Qh4+ Kg8 Qh6 and I don't think black has enough time to counter the mate.

JWhis, I believe I looked at that after the game. After 37... Qf8 38. Rdh3 Ra1+ wins, easiest is 39. Kxb2 Qa3+ 40. Kc2 Qa2+ 41. Kd3 Rd1+ 42. Ke3 Rxc3+ 43. Kf4 Qxf2+ 44. Nf3 Rd4+ 45. Kg5 Qe3 wins the h6-rook and the game.

Calm, I have been using the chess.com Chess Mentor feature and I find it very good and also very difficult, specifically I've been working through Silman's 'Roots of Positional Understanding' which is one of the series in the Chess Mentor feature. I should mention that not all the lessons in that feature are positionally related, but some are and these seem to be the most useful.

By the way, just by way of illustration as to where my positional and tactical abilities are, my Chess Mentor rating is about 2250 and my Tactics Trainer rating is like 2650. Not that the two are equal, but clearly I have much further to go with Positional chess as well.
