Re: whiskeytown - Vs. a Nimovitch defense [15:53]
made this video early and tried to do another one - I kept trying live analysis and kept losing or getting a blowout, which makes for bad commentary - I'm reaffirming my commitment to endgames this week, since I feel I have enough of the openings for now to muddle my way thru them till I move up a bit in ratings -
In this case, I had no idea of the right opening, so I just stuck with basic opening principles.
and yes, I spelled Nimzowitsch wrong - (and in fact, I think it's a Queen's Fianchetto, with a little Nimzo thrown in - Fritz says it's the ol B00 in ECO

I think 1...b6 is called Owen's defence. And wowwwwww wasn't Nxg5 complete curtains after black played ...g5? No defence against Bh5+ with mate or with Nf7 to follow.

@zibbit You're learning from these vids aren't ya Btw, whiskeytown, you have really improved. at least that's what I get. I used to have and still have that problem of playing really well for 10 games and then the next 10 games blunder real bad. Doing a lot of tactics and playing a lot of 5 min blitz helps a lot.

@Hiddie I don't understand what you mean...is this some kind of a pun? I like watching some whiskeytown videos he is an entertaining presenter and I also enjoy seeing how people at all levels think so I can understand it better. Also I hvae to find smartass moves that weren't found in the video to boost my ego

Re: whiskeytown - Vs. a Nimovitch defense [15:53]
Couldn't black have "removed the guard" by playing Bxf3 followed by the rook taking the bishop (Rxg5) or are black's white squares too weak for that?

Nice way to handle an opening that you were unfamiliar with.
What is a win on Disconnect?
Thanks,
