Here are the a couple Beats and Brags posted in the thread requesting a beats/brags section:

Ian posted this beauty:

Ian-NN

1. e4 d5
2. exd5 Qxd5
3. Nc3 Qd8
4. Bc4 Nf6
5. Nc3 Bg4
6. Ne5 Bxd1??
7. Bxf7++

Merciless.

Razboi's reply:

You messed up the notion a bit I think it should be:1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qd8 4. Bc4 Nf6 5. Nf3 Bg4 6. Ne5 Bxd1?? 7. Bxf7++, nice win, you are right 6...Be6 was the only move but white has a large advantage.
Here is one of mine, it's a very nice opening trap I sprang on some opponent:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. d3 Bc5 5. O-O d6 6. Bg5 h6 7. Bh4 g5 8. Bg3 h5 9. Nxg5 h4 10. Nxf7 hxg3 11. Nxd8 Bg4
12. Qe1 Nd4 13. Nc3 Nf3+ 14. gxf3 Bxf3 0-1
He resigned since mate is unstoppable on h2 or h1, Unfortunately after taking the queen with 11.Nxd8 white has a way to get away with a roughly equal position, and this is 13.h6 (all other moves loose) Ne2+ 14 Qxe2!(Not 14.Kh1 Rxh3 15.gxh3 Bf3#) Bxe2 15.Ne6, and white should be able to survive this.

Keep em coming!

Okay, here goes--I'd rather post my most all-time embarrassing moment now, that way when I post somehting good it will look even better by comparison :lol:

W: R. Arteaga (1407) B: R. Pearson (1600) 1. e4 d5 2. ed Nf6 3. Bb5+ Bd7 4. Nc3? Nxd5 5. Nxd5 Bxb5 6. c4 Bxc4 7. Qa4+? b5 8. Qa5 Qxd5 9. Qxc7 and now any reasonable move stays a piece up with what I would certainly characterize as a dream position after nine moves as black...and of course his Queen can't do anything all by itself (can it?); so let's look for the killer...9. ... Qxg2 ????????????? 10. Qc8 mate 1-0

:oops: :oops: :oops:

Well, I guess my approach is the opposite of Robert's. I want something nice to look back on when I post a truly embarassing game.

Here's a nice position I had at the 2007 U.S. Amateur Team East. I was black.

Image

1...Qd2 Constructing a mating net
2. Qb1 f4
3. Bf5 Qe3+
4. Kg2 Qe2+
4. Kg1 f3 and he resigned. White has to give up a lot of material to avoid mate.

I just played this one, not particularly proud of it, but it's quite nice because my opponent neglected his development and got punished:
1. e4 e6 2. d4 Nc6 3. Nf3 d5 4.e5 f6 5. Bd3 fxe5 6. Nxe5 Nxe5 7. dxe5 g6 8.Qg4 c5 9. c4 Qa5+ 10. Bd2 Qb6 11. Nc3 Qxb2 12.Rb1 Qa3 13. O-O d4 14. Rb3 Qa5 15. Ne4 Qxa2 16.Rxb7 Bxb7 17. Qxe6+ Ne7 18. Nf6+ Kd8 19. Qd7# 1-0
I played some questionable moves such as 8.Qg4 and I missed a good continuation on move 13 with cxd5 instead of casteling and if exd5 i had 14Bb5+ forcing the king to move after which I'd have a much better position.I'm proud of the rook sac since rybka agrees it's the best move in the position.

My one and only claim to fame game against a well known English GM on the Playchess Server, I managed to catch him after he had played about 20 games and was tired :wink:

I have altered his name, but you should know who it it is from the substitute name i have used.

Hmm, I can't figure out who the GM is...but nice game! Also, where in England is the Cumnor Chess Club? I played in an English tournament in Blackpool about 4 years ago.

PS: I am going to ask the members on 31 May 2007 who have internet access to sign up here and post some of their games for analysis :wink:
