Hello everyone. My name is John, I just signed up a few minutes ago. Just wanted to say hello and thank everyone who has made videos for all of us to watch. I first learned to play chess about 15 years ago, only played a few games and didn't play again until January of this year when I decided to actually try learning the game. I found this site while searching for chess videos/ tutorials.

Hi guys, my name is Alparslan, my parents come from Turkey, I was born in Germany though, so I'm fluent in both languages. I first got attracted by Chess when I was 12 after joining the school chess club, but a year later it closed down.
Now, 3 years ago, I started playing chess again, I joined a chess club and worked myself up to 1755 DWZ (Which is about 1800-1850 Elo). I love playing this game, and I am eager to become better, probably even win a FIDE title in the future.
I hope I can learn some things at this forums, and share opinions with other players.

Hi Alparslan,

Welcome aboard! This is one of the best places on the web to learn about chess. We're like a chess self-help group... :D

Of *COURSE* we're enablers... I don't see any threads around here that start, "Hi, I'm [handle] and I'm a chess addict..." We're more like an AA group that meets in a bar on the night when well drinks are half price! :D

Hey there guys!

My name's Mel, and I'm a sophomore at U Michigan that rediscovered chess last spring break. I'm roughly a 1500-1600 on FICS, and I'm looking forward to boosting that rating quite a bit in the coming years. Saw this thread and wanted to pop by and say hi, looking forward to talking/playing with ya guys =)

forgot to say about me, my name is Zhe, which is the hardest one to say in my middle school, except my music teacher, no one had got it right in 1 try, :D. Oh well......
one of my classmates play chess against me and never won in last 4 months, he got great grades- 6 A+s and 2 As, while i only got 3 A+s and 3 As.
i am pretty good in math (i am in seventh grade)
why? because i know how to do square roots on a separate piece paper.
I am from China, just came to US for almost 2 years, and doesn't speak english very well
what else......
ok, that's it, i end it up with this coming back game from chess.com, i am sooooo glad that i didn't resign after i am down a rook, in the end, i got not only just the rook back, even up a piece!
i was playing black, a tournament in chess.com, challenge in there. :)

i don't know how i got there, just try not to exchange pieces, white had tons of times to win this, but why he didn't have it :?:
okay, see you next time.
