Checkmates in 20 moves or less
I thought it would be a good idea to start a 20 move or less Checkmate thread.
It's entertaining and great for beginners. (All participation is encouraged)
Here is my first entry.

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
This one is crappy, I doubt that a beginner will get much out of it.

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
How about stalemate in 20 moves or less(10 is the smallest possible)?

Very cool thread, but I think it belongs in the General Discussion forum. It'll generate more discussion there.

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
I managed to come up with a couple
most of my 20 moves or less are resignations and virtually none are tough trapping checkmates - in both cases it's a queen+fianchtto'd bishop way out there that provides killer support all the way from the far end of the board - so that's probably why it worked - and my opponent usually blundered with a piece.
reading Logical Chess by irving Chernev, and he's got a lot of them too usually with kingside attacks that weaken the pawn structure and then tear it apart -
anyways - fianchetto'd bishop - dangerous weapon at lower levels - enjoy

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
I just played this monster in 14 moves - sorta lucked out a bit - I knew Bxf7 would probably be good but had no idea how good - (was trying to relieve pressure that the Bishop/Queen could bring to bear kingside) -
it almost fell into my lap - thought I had it a move earlier but he still had Kd7 but then I saw it -
chalk up another one to KB's Scotch Gambit - (waiting for it to show up in Informant on a regular basis - LOL)
