Re: Greco Counter Gambit Correspondence vs. gooeyjim
White's position looks terrible but black could be slightly worse. Fun position which I assess as marginally drunk or slightly over the limit. Both you guys should try walking in a straight line and blowing in a bag.

Re: Greco Counter Gambit Correspondence vs. gooeyjim
I have a couple places in mind where I could have improved and maybe won, however, I'm not giving up yet in the least, especially because I doubt anyone else will want to go into this line with me ever again, even if I could improve... As one knowledgeable friend of mine has said: "In such positions completing development is a priority and not winning back material" Whether I should win or lose this, I will challenge anyone else who dares to follow gooeyjim's exact moves in another game, because I've found something extremely interesting that is worth trying... Therefore: here goes! 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f5 3. Nxe5 Nc6 4. Qh5+ g6 5. Nxg6 Nf6 6. Qh4 fxe4 7. Nxh8 d5 8. Bb5 Qe7 9. 0-0 Bg7 10. d3 Bd7

Re: Greco Counter Gambit Correspondence vs. gooeyjim
Btw, thank you for this, Pobble! It's about the closest thing I've had to a 'vote of confidence' from anyone on this forum--and you have a history of being fair to me... I appreciate that a lot! Sometimes I feel as if I'm just 'one gambiteer against the world!' LOL... You don't have to give an answer right away, but I would be very interested in doing some sort of 'correspondence game' like this against you after this one is done, and if you would be willing to follow the same moves that gooeyjim has played, I'd have something I'd like to try... but whether or not you end up accepting, thank you for your interest in this match!

Re: Greco Counter Gambit Correspondence vs. gooeyjim
yeah ok... white has a rook and a pawn lead (will eventually become exchange + pawn) for what? black only has a tiny lead in development. Anyway I don't recommend or expect 1500's to resign so I'm not going to complain.

Re: Greco Counter Gambit Correspondence vs. gooeyjim
I used to play CC for my county but got a bit sick of players of genius because they used computers.
Black is down on material, but anyone can see he has some compensation in time and central control. Such things do depend on who your playing. I think most people would find things not so easy with white. 'Compensation', is not something comps or club players understand very well, as it is largely a matter of opinion.

Re: Greco Counter Gambit Correspondence vs. gooeyjim
I am neither a comp or a club player... I love sacrificing material for an attack but I also know when the "intiative" is nothing. But as far as I know, tons of 2200+ players on FICS get very far with greed, including me (as long as it's not suicidal!)
