I'm curious as I don't have an ELO, how accurate the FICS rating estimate is (if you don't know, write in tell surveybot help to find more info).

Can anyone here with an ELO rating and a FICS account vouch for or discredit it? I expect it's pretty inflated.

I honestly don't know. I'd also like to see how FIDE correlates to ICC.

For what it's worth, my FIDE is about 1620/1630 and my FICS/ICC are around 1800, but I think my strength is quite a bit higher than my FIDE suggests.

Actually what I was talking about is Surveybot's rating estimate.

Surveybot lets people submit their FIDE ratings, then compares it to their FICS rating. So anytime you type 'Tell Surveybot rating estimate FIDE' (or something like that) it will give you the result of its data. Obviously though many people on FICS are pretty stupid and care so much about having a high rating that they would lie even to a robot to make themselves feel better. So I don't trust it precisely (my FICS rating is something like 1697 and it gave me a FIDE estimate of 1825 or something which is probably too high). But because I don't have a FIDE rating I can't judge whether it is accurate or not, which is why I wondered if other people would try it out and let me know!

It "estimated" my FIDE at around 1900- in reality it is more like 1600. Take from that what you will!
Still, as I say, I think my FIDE should be higher- I just haven't played enough games for it to stabilise.

SurveyBot suffers from GIGO in a major way. Garbage in, garbage out. It trusts users to submit accurate info and maintain it as such. Let's just say they don't do that.

That's exactly what I figured would be the case. But as I have no ELO I couldn't say for sure...
