 Re: The Chess Gym - Rook-Bombs [14:43]
I agree that is was an entertaining video, and I agree with the commentary about mobilizing your rook and protecting the king at the same time by castling, but it seems like all you are demonstrating here is how to draw against the computer. If it weren't for the time controls, the game would have drawn because of the 50 move rule (no pawn moves or captures in 50 moves). Should we be playing for a win here or is that the best we can hope for?

Hysterical. Love the line about your computer program beating you up in front of your wife and kids.

 Re: The Chess Gym - Rook-Bombs [14:43]
So is this video about how to draw a equal ending???
Showing us beating the computer on time shouldn't be a lesson...

 Re: The Chess Gym - Rook-Bombs [14:43]
I thought this was a well thought out idea. The only thing I think should be corrected is you emphasis on opposition. When you are in these endgames (I have seen this one and lightning bishops.) You do mention a lot about opposition, which is good, but IMO there is too much. And the mentions to opposition are not the best move. For example in a rook endgame it was much better for you to actually play for a break, and you could have went for a win rather than "hold off" your computer opponent. In a rook ending it's he who gets to the open file first who gains the advantage. So in a sense it was white who won this endgame based on the fact that he did "more" right than black, even though it ended in a drawn position. (Note: Most rook endgames are drawn no matter what you do. Some minor exceptions like extra pawns and Lucena positions are wins. So in this one you kind of have to go by who played "Better")
To the opposition point, opposition only matters when the kings are fighting for a square. In a rook endgame where there is two rooks and 8 pawns, that is barely and endgame and the king might even be in danger getting in the middle of the board.
Again I enjoyed it, it was well thought out. Your ideas of mixing sports and common potatoe style lecture is a good idea to put fun into endgames.
There is nothing wrong with picking on your computer with time odds like that no matter what anyone says.;-) nice show.

I like the commentary style. And yes, the machine should be trying to win if it's actually 2800. Good job!

Very crazy :-D
Im not sure, if the endgame was drawish when white rook was staying on f6, because she had not any move. Black maybe could try prepare opening of position by b6 and a5 and take advantage of it.
