this transposed to a common 1.e4 opening--- a Caro-Kann, Panov-Botvinnik variation with lost tempos for both sides.

there are some g6 lines in the Panov where white does take c4xd5 and hangs on the pawn for a little while. giving the pawn back with d5-d6 is a common idea.

Wasn't really a direct transposition :) I used to play that stuff for white too, in the panov, but never quite liked it for white, even though theoretically its supopsed to be pretty good.

Yes, yeah you (!) for making all the great videos. As an English player, I am really enjoying it. It is a great blend of being both entertaining and instructive. I hope you keep them coming for quite some time.

thanks for the video, this is a great video! i really enjoy this, especially because of the flank openings, u use the same openings as i do. i do have a question though on the english.

when you play the e3 with Ne2, sometimes black pins the knight with Bg4, is f3 ok in those positions? i find it really annoying, as it limits d4

I dunno depends on the position but I usually don't play f3! Really it's hard to answer, it depends on the situation, but usually will try something like h3, and then to maybe move the queen away to unpin the knight or play g4. But it's kind of tough to talk about something like this using generalities.
