Hi KingsBlade,

Even if you are rated lower than me I still learn a lot from your videos. You mention a lot of the basic principals to chess that I never really did fully understand, or didn't put as much thought into as I should have. So I really do enjoy watching your videos.

I look forward to playing you sometime.

Thanks,

David

Kingsblade - Did you consider 15. Re3? Then, maybe you were in a position for Bxh6 then if gxf6 you have a nice attack started and possibly a mating one. I must admit however, that I did not look terribly carefully if black had a defense to all this on move 15. But, given that he moved his defensive knight on move 14, I think he had plans of attack and not defense and possibly would have ignored your 15. Re3 threat.

Hi again KingsBlade,

The few things I noticed was at move 12 Qb5+ wins the pawn at b7 as this is blacks only hanging piece. You are move developed at this point so I think taking the time to win back your pawn is ok. Move 13 Bf4 is questionable to me. This isn't a bad move per se because it does develop a piece but the f4 square for the bishop isn't the best square because it is limited by the black pawns at d6 and h6 (the only aquares the bishop has is c1, d2, e3, g3, and h2 plus it really has nothing to do there. Better I think would be to play b3 and then Bb2 putting the bishop on the long a1-h8 diaginal where it eyes f6 and g7. On move 23 instead of hxg5 (which allowed black to open the f file for a future atack on f2 which was played) better would be Qf5 which threatens Qg6+. If Kg7 then pawn to h5 supports Qg6. Qf5 is hard for black to deal with because there is no piece that can immediatley defend g6 except the king and h5 attacks g6 twice. The best black can hope for after Qf5 is Rf7 to block the check to come then h6 is hanging. Indeed the rook trade was bad because of the reasons you pointed out. With his king so close to the isolated pawn at d7 white could not hold it. Wit pawn majorities on both sides of the board I think your position was lost at this point. Perhaps instead of doubling the rooks on the lone d7 pawn on move 31 , a better plan to consider would be to play Rd1-d6 doubling on the 6th rank and attacking the pawn at h6, you will at least trade pawns and have one pawn each on that side of the board. becasue after Rxd7 you have Rxh6.

Anyway enjoyed the video and good luck.
