 Re: De Feijter, 1939
Easy. Instead of moving the king and then push your pawn and queen at the same time (which would result in a draw) white can also move into "the square" of the black pawn meaning that white is in time to pick the pawn up. I don't want to go through all the variations but an example: Hidden Text Below - [Show it] - [Hide it Again] 1. Kg5 b5 2. Kf4 Ke2 3. Ke4 Kd2 4. Kd4 Kc2 5. Kc5 1-0.
Am I right?

This one is nice Hiddie try using the hide feauture to hide your answers, this way you'll have a lesser chance of spoiling the fun for the others as they simple won't see your answer. To use the hide feature type [.hide.] YOUR TEXT [./hide.] without the dots

Thanks, I was always wondering how people did that. It wasn't one of the buttons you see on the top of the writing field above next to bold, italic etc. I just edited my post.

Hiddie, I think you missed the critical position. Instead of 5... 1-0, black can also play 5... Kc3 when black seems to draw with 6. Kxb5 Kd4. But then after 6. h5! b4 7. h6 b3 8. h7 b2 9. h8=Q+ white promotes with check and still wins.

Thanks armis! I was just reading Chernev's Practical Chess Endings and I really liked this one.

And to think that I'd usually omit the grid because I find it rather distracting! Better luck next time.
