I figured I wouldn't be like everybody else and watch, but not comment. I enjoyed this video, but was frustrated that you lost on time. With such a big advantage, it seemed you could have just made moves that didn't lose right away and could have maybe caught up on time. It was nice to see a video about the french since most of the videos lately have been sicilians or caro-kanns.

Hi!

Very good of you to notice the ...Nxe5 tactic which is very important to know in the French, tends to crop up especially in the advance variation. So very good job there.

After he took on c5 one consideration was flicking in Qxb3 so that you didn't get doubled b-pawns.

If he hadn't played Nd4 and say castled you did though have Nb3 when rook on a1 falls and he has to go axb3 and you go Ra8xa1.

After the check on d3 you retreated the knight from d3 to e5. You could have captured a white pawn on either f2 or b2 there.

Bullrock: I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on my video. Sorry about the time trouble. I'll get better at it. I know what you mean by "frustrated" though...especially after relatively solid opening play. Hope you'll still be watching my stuff when I'm finally making faster decisions. :)

Zibbit: I also appreciate you taking the time to comment on my video. I was really proud the day that I found the Nxe5 move. I couldn't tell you why I wasn't able to see the two hanging pawns after the knight check. Your advice about me initiating the queen trade is most helpful. Thanks!

Thanks to all who watch these videos! If you play the French defense, look for more from me in the future. I'll try to play as Black the next few games if I can.
