Post Re: BoyHowdy - L15: B vs pmmotor [18:19]
My goal is to stop and take time during each game to evaluate the position and plan to improve my pieces through maneuvering or trading. These are the questions I have for myself after playing this game:

1) Was I wrong to avoid doubling White's pawns and open the b-file? Why do I play the Winawer?!
2) Would there have been significant pressure on my b-pawn if that file had opened?
3) Did I exchange pieces or avoid exchanges for logical reasons?

Other thoughts not covered by the questions above:

10...Bd7 Maybe I could have tried to trade the dark-square bishops on this move.

12...f6 I didn't want to capture on e5 and open the file for White's rook. Ideally, the exchange would happen on d6 and I bring my c-pawn to the center. 12...Nxe5 fails after 13. exd5 Bc6 14. Qf4 and the d6 bishop is pinned.

17...Ng6 Revealing an attack on the queen and hoping to capture on f4 and give g6 to my bishop.

18...Rc8 Activating the rook and threatening to take on f4....however, is this the logical follow-up to my last move?

hi,

i watched your video and i liked hearing your thoughts while playing.
i'm not trying to answer your questions, because i don't think i'm good enough.
but i think i spotted a tactic: After trading rooks on the a-file you played Qb6, i think a better move is Qa5.
he can't take your Queen with his rook because you have mate on e1 and i can't see a defence for his backrank problems.

Cramped openings need to be known exactly... like this variation with the problem bishop ....I think the most common idea is to play nbd7 to prepare the 2nd knight to go to f6 with tempo. then prepare and get in b6 or c5 , some liberating move, u never got to liberate your position, and white what i saw missed an oppurtunity to grab some perfectly good pawns with a won game.

Nc6 blocking the pawn is not as common, but could work if the conditions r right , just not a choice i would make if not knowing (that I seldom do) the exact theory.
