I love this french line! I get it from the caro-kann...1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.e5 c5. This gives black great play.

In the French when I get alot of exchanges in the beginnig i usually do pretty well... He destroyed his kingside...

its nice that you got to put your light squared bishop to use. though, usually people who play the french defence, don't like open games, and it can be a really hard opening to play if your opponent is aggresive on the kingside, because most of your pieces go to the queenside

Ya I know but when he went kingside it opened up his king so I was able to use my queenside pieces for the assault...

I think going for the knight instead of the rook was a bit better, at least that's what I would have done, usually an extra piece is easier to convert then a rook for knight.Taking the rook was still winning though.

Ya I thought about that afterwards luckily I was able to convert (Thanks to my opponent) When he took my pawn with his knight I knew the game was over!
