I found your assessment of flexible light squared bishop a bit strange as the position seemed to restrict it almost completely. Can you offer a bit more on the subject?

I play the london system myself in order to avoid alot of the theory and traps of the openings, you played this system well but after Nh5 you should have left you bishop on f4 and played Bd3, the point is that after the knight takes your darksquared bishop you can take back with the e pawn giving you more control over the critical e5 square.

I must've been taking LSD while I did this video..... :D

Seriously though, I was thinking long term when the position opens up it may become more flexible though it does sound like I implied it straight away, obviously that is very strange! It's interesting that if it ever gets attacked it has a couple of squares on the b1-h7 diagonal to retreat to which in many other positions you don't get to keep the bishop on without a struggle. That is indeed, if I wish to retain a piece that isn't great.

I feel bad that I didn't even mention good and bad pieces throughout the video at all, because I've been trying to take this into account when I play.

Cheers for watching the vid :)

I agree with this plan being a good one. Alekhine actually had it in a game with it that is on Nigel Davies' London System DVD, the problem is I don't know enough about the plans and ideas with this setup to play it with confidence. My opponent was 400 points higher than myself, so I felt more compelled to stick to what I already know.

Just as an aside, I used to play Semi-Slav, Sicilian as Black and QG as white, or 2. c4 against 1...Nf6 of course the positions can be very theoretical. I'm not afraid of theory, but my coach thinks the best thing to do is to 'dumb down' my opening knowledge so I can focus on more important areas of study. Ironically, I'm having greater difficulty trying to make 2. Nf6 work in the Scandinavian defence, and London System isn't toally familiar yet and I only have 2 weeks till season starts to get it right.
