Re: Dennis M - How Not to Play Against the Pirc? Part II [44:28]
I noticed a small error on your proposed line around the 15:46 mark in the video. After the f4 push, exf4, and a little chase with the dark-squared bishop and the black Queen, you offer:
1. Nxb5? cxb5. Your idea is that the Queen can move to d5 and double attack the King and Rook. However, the knight on f6 guards the d5 square. Only thing left to try is Rxf6 to deflect the knight, but...
2. Rxf6 Nxf6. Now the tactic doesn't seem to work out.
Just a small and silly error in an otherwise rigorously thorough set of videos. I've also played games where I was admittedly outplayed, but after considerable analysis of a specific moment that most paid little attention to, I realized the whole complexion of the game could have been changed.

.....the knight isn't really guarding d5 on account of the pin by the rook on f1.

I stand corrected. I was confused with a similar position, where there was still a blockader on the f-file.

Wow! Great lecture, I must say. It really makes me believe that one should not judge a book by its cover.

Re: Dennis M - How Not to Play Against the Pirc? Part II [44:28]
Great stuff once again. I did find the main move alternative to your a3 and without pausing. However, I didnt notice it in the previous video. Can you sit next to me at the next tournament and tell me *when* to find the best move?
Loved all the tactics. This is why I play chess, even simple looking games can have a storm brewing just beneath the surface.
Keep up the good work!

Very impressive analysis with great details and ideas! I play the PIRC and am scared to play it now due to White strong attack in this variation! Thanks again. Nhon Do (vnchess in ICC in case you guy want to say hi)

Re: Dennis M - How Not to Play Against the Pirc? Part II [44:28]
Wow... I'm quite blown away by all the stuff that was there lurking beneath the surface that everyone missed way back when. OTOH, a lot of that would be very hard for anyone to find OTB. And a strong GM "sitting in his living room" who needs to produce a chess column on deadline might not be the best analyst for finding that sort of stuff when he's already got a great "story" to tell with the way the game actually went. If they had found it, they wouldn't have had room in their columns for all of the necessary analysis and would probably have picked a different game that week. Maybe there's a fourth lesson in there somewhere... Thanks, Dennis! Great stuff!

Re: Dennis M - How Not to Play Against the Pirc? Part II [44:28]
Dennis another outstanding video!! I also play the Pirc and guess I will have to brush up on this line before I end up getting crushed by others on this site. Thank you very much for all the time and effort you put into this for us - it is greatly appreciated. We all give praise to Greg for his videos but I would just like to say that you merit the same praise.

Re: Dennis M - How Not to Play Against the Pirc? Part II [44:28]
Dennis, you mention in the video that an alternative for black if you had played f4, along with moves like fxe4, h6, a4 etc is Bh6 - and that you would come back to that move. But you never do. Do the lines differ enough to give black better chances in that line starting with f4?

Qd3! would have been a classy move. If only! Thanks for another excellent presentation - I enjoyed the 'two versions' approach - the clean/idealistic story versus the messy/unromantic truth. I love them both - and look forward perhaps to your 'Triple Take' in several years time!
