I just checked this forum to find what I believe to be copyrighted materials. Although I'm waiting to hear from the person who posted them to determine what exactly happened, I just want to make it clear that under no circumstances are people allowed to post material they do not own the rights to or have permission from the owner of those rights to post.

Please, please, do not do that. We may have to take action like banning or preventing from uploading future videos. If we get sued for copyright infringement that's the end of chessvideos.tv, so don't ruin it for everyone else.

I'm sorry to bring up an old topic, but is going over lines from a book or a game copyright infringment?

if the book is so OLD to be public domain, then no. (usually 50-70+ years old, but varies). Spielmann's Art of Sacrifice for example was published 75 years ago.....

if the book is not public domain, it may or may not be a violation:
if you read the book verbatim like a story book, that's probably a violation.

if the video has transformative value, then it's probably ok. so long as a good portion of the analysis and commentary is original, it's not a violation of US copyright law.

wow i am fan of your videos too its nice and informative really this site made me learn lot more about chess. see i m not a pro in chess never had any training in chess i just watch these videos and try to understand the basic nature of playing chess.as u say in your videos keep the game plain and simple,well all i wanted was to get the permission from this sites owner or whoever is in position to allow me to post a video in this site , truly i just want to post my videos in the begginers coloumn.and also sir katar i play in fics there my id is Euphemizm i would really be interested in playing few games of chess it would really help me to know more about this game.
