oriz0r: Thanks!

yayaba: You're welcome. About 26.Ra4 c4, it's a good idea to block the path to e4, but it's not enough. 27.Nxc4 and now if the queen moves, then 28.Ncd6+ wins easily. (E.g. 27...Qc5 28.Ncd6+ Bxd6 29.Nxd6+ Ke7 (or Kf8) 30.Nxf7 Kxf7 31.Bd5+ Kf8 32.Qh7 (The obvious 32.Bxg8 is an easy win as well) and White wins the house on the way to mate. Or if 27...Bxc4, then after 28.Rxc4 the threat of Re4 is back. (Note that 28...Nc5 loses immediately to 29.Bc6+.) Whatever chances Black might have had, they're gone after 26.Ra4.

yme: It's probably fine, but I was trying to maintain complete control. Here's the problem: after 32.Bd3 (or 33.Bd3 if we're including 32.a4 a5 as in the game) h5 33.f5+ Kh6 34.Be2 exf5 35.exf5 Nd5 he's getting out of the box. I might still be winning, but given a choice between a likely, slightly faster and a 100% sure, slightly slower win, I'm taking the latter every time (assuming my flag's not about to fall).

Nice video Dennis, I enjoyed it a lot. I think it says a lot about my level of play (not very good) when I instantly recognized that a rook lift to get the last piece into the attack was a good idea but didn't even consider a5 to clear the a4 square for that rook! Very well played.

A quick tactical question though. What would be White's response to Nb3 at 20:29. I see Black threatening to win the exchange with the Nd2 fork. Does white allow this and if so what's the compensation? Or does he have to play Nd5 so that he can take the b3 knight with his queen after at some point? Or is even the flashy Bd5 possible?

mrriddler: The standard reply to 15...Nb3 is to drop a knight on d5, generally the e3 knight. After 16.Ned5 White has been having all the fun, going +5 =5 -0. Play continues 16...cxd5 17.Qxb3 Qc4 18.Qxc4 and Black has tried both recaptures without enjoying good results.

How would you answer Qb6 instead of Qb8? Also I would like to see a video on the defense in that first game endgame.

chesstv: It's a good question with a very sneaky answer: 17...Qb6 18.Nd5! followed by 19.Be3.

It's a trendy line with tons of theory - you'll need to do your own research on this one. :)

Yo, great video Dennis!

Pausing the video, I was able to see the a5, Ra4-Re4 idea. The endgame was beyond anything I was prepared for though. Tying his king down and dominating his knight was very exciting.
