hello Renier, I have a question about these plans You mentioned throughout the video that white should be playing a3, b4 and c5 against this setup, but what does this really accomplish? Is it to plant a piece on d6? even then I'm not so sure how great white's position is because black could land a piece on d4, and attack the piece on d6

You're right, although the idea for white is to reduce blacks activity to a minimun, there are plenty of model games that are disastreous for black in this opening, for instance search for Piket - Smirin, dont remember the year, but it's in the Na6 line, and also an important game wich I mention is Khalifman - Matamoros, of course there are plenty of improvements for black, but beware of the danger, by the way a second part of this video is coming up.
