 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
Hi everyone!
My name is Jackson. I was introduced to the game of chess when I was grade school age, but didn't take it seriously until I was in high school. I joined the chess club there, and progressively played more matches from freshman year through senior year. I never entered many tournaments (played mostly against other schools in the weekly meets), but did participate in the regional high school county tournaments, and state tournaments in my junior and senior year. When I first started, my rating was only 779, and stayed around the 800 area through the first couple years. I managed to get it up to 1077 within the span of just two tournaments in my senior year and I could sense that I was rapidly improving. Unfortunately, I never once again played competitive chess after high school so my growth and potential were probably stunted somewhat. My real ability is probably higher than my USCF rating but I never played enough tournaments for it to reflect and translate into my rating. My busy schedule (grad student) doesn't allow me to play OTB competitive chess but I still find time once in awhile to play online or OTB for leisure.
I found this cool site while searching for instructional videos on You Tube, and I must echo the feelings of others in saying that Josh's videos are very clear, concise, and understandable!
Cheers.
J

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
Hello everybody, let me say few words about my self. My name is Albin Hafizovic (33) I live in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I must say I love this site and also videos on this site, I watch almost all videos here, I appreciate all uploaded videos here including those done by amateurs, such as I am. I am chess enthusiast and I am playing online chess only. I appreciate every chess player regardless of his strength or rating, because I see every player as a person who likes chess game and that is enough for me to give him my respect . I have also uploaded some videos here, those are games with live commentary, I am aware that quality of my videos cannot be compared to the videos of some guys here like Calm, sfarmer29, fuzion, katar or to the videos of our respectful founder . My videos are more for intermediate or lower level players and simply I in my videos i am making dilemma on almost every move so that viewers could also participate and my goal is to show how intermediate level player makes decisions during the game.

Hello all, I'm Rodrigo Alex Teodoro, a.k.a. rateodoro, I'm 34 yo from Santa Barbara dOeste, a small city near Sao paulo, in Brazil. I was a chess player many years ago, and then I've decided to try to help people to improve thought chess classes and my sites: http://www.firew.org/xb/index.php and www.chessforlovers.blogspot.com, both in Portuguese. My apologies for my imperfect english, I've studied that long years ago! My best wishes and feel free to contact me! peace and helth!

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
Hi!
My name is Mir. I'm 17 years old and live in Sweden. I learned the rules of chess not that long ago. 8 or 9 months ago if I recollect it correctly allthough I love the game.
I've only played a few official rated games and have a national rating which would be equivalent to ~1800 FIDE at the moment. I'm very eager to accomplish a lot of stuff as a chessplayer though. My learning curve have been quite straight upwards, thanks to this site among other things.
I'm also a bit ashamed since I've been a member of this site for while and visit it fairly frequently but haven't yet actually posted anything on the forum.

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
Hi All,
My name is Jim, I'm 36 and have been playing chess for 4 years. I have a music degree from San Diego State, and I used to play electric bass for living in San Diego in funk/jazz bands, etc., but after a few years, I got a job at a university as an accountant (very boring, BTW...hahaha)....I played online poker for a bit, became frustrated, and converted to chess at age 32...I'm ~1700 USCF...I love chess, and I think this site is great.
Thanks!
