Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
online 3/0 pattern is a good one to know, comes up a lot! (after Black castles with knight on g6, White plays h4 to meet any Bxh4 with Qh5)

Screwing around late last night... I think some mind-altering chemicals might have been involved.

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
I'm not convinced by that 'well-timed' sac. What if white doesn't play Nf3?? but prefers Raf1!?

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
I guess there would have been more game to play and probably unclear But don't I still have an advantage with an unprotected king in the center? especially in a 5 min blitz game? but anyway, after the move 12 Nd2 I was looking at all his pieces consolidated on the queenside, an advanced pawn structure on the queenside that would make it difficult to mount a queen side attack by me. I thought if he castled queenside I would be in some trouble.I thought with the closed center he could trade off his bishop for my knight and make it a real struggle to mount any attack. now of course my chess kills are weak and I could be missing a theme or pattern very easily but that is what I was thinking.

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
Finally had a quick mate worth posting... I actually mated my OTB opponent last week on move 20, but it seemed cruel to post that...

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
throwaway 3/0 blitz of course . Note if 8...Rf7 9.Qxc5 Qxb2 10.Qc3 Qc1+ 11.Ke2 then BLack's queen probably gets trapped

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
Recently I've started playing the Open Games for a laugh and decided to accept the Muzio Gambit. This is a genuine game I lost!

A game against a weak Stockfish engine (played on my iPod) with an instructive Panow-motif.

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
Nice, Fox! I think Bxh7+ must be the most fun move of all to play in chess.

Re: Checkmates in 20 moves or less
Proud Daddy Alert! My 7 year old daughter, Ariel played this game last night- her Chess as well as that of her 9 year old sister has really improved lately. Here she played a virtually flawless (well, for a 7 year old) attack against an older boy whose play wasn't quite as flawless. She'll be thrilled that her game ended up here in the "gallery of greats".
