 ChessVideos.TV classics series
Hey all, this is just a thread about a new front page series I've made. You can see the first ever post here. While I've already selected a bunch of videos for future editions, you're welcome to post future nominations here. The only criteria is that it's an awesome video and more than about six months old. This feature will appear once a week or slightly more (depending on submissions). Congrats to katar for being the first person highlighted!

 Re: ChessVideos.TV classics series
Indeed. That series was one of my all-time favorites!

 Re: ChessVideos.TV classics series
EDIT to add labels. yeah buddy. how about people post nominations/links in this thread. too bad a lot of stuff gets buried and more or less forgotten. with like 5,000 videos on this site, you figure some of it must be good. i have a lot of classics in mind. let's start with these. National Master Rene Phillips on the Open Rook File 1 and 2. viewtopic.php?t=1134viewtopic.php?t=1135 Gentlewhisper puts the OWN in Onischuk viewtopic.php?t=7739 Calm's anti-sicilian against an I.M. viewtopic.php?t=5949 National Master Frank Johnson's epic game to conclude a breakout tournament viewtopic.php?t=6535 FM Graham Morrison faces the legendary grandmaster/author John Emms viewtopic.php?f=24&t=4337 Zibbit vs Variance, nuff said viewtopic.php?t=4147 Moments in Chess by FM Charles Galofre viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3654 Fox's King's Gambit with cutting edge CGI animation from 1985. viewtopic.php?t=8826 rateodoro shows that Kasparov's "simple" moves can be the hardest ones to find. viewtopic.php?t=7350unlike Kamus i will only link to Freebies to help the poor folk.

 Re: ChessVideos.TV classics series
<bump> Let's keep this topic alive. As noted, there are so many fantastic videos here that have been forgotten about- one of the drawbacks to the forum-style architecture here- I've already seen some cool vids as a result of this thread that I wouldn't already have known about. Anyone who hasn't seen the Zibbit-Variance game referenced above is missing out. I'll think of more as time goes by but I remember I really got a lot out of Dennis' 2 videos on the Berlin Defense- tons of ideas on how to play the Berlin Endgame in those: viewtopic.php?t=1241viewtopic.php?t=4536

First of all, some kamus classics: The Alekhine Block video is a must-watch: viewtopic.php?t=9296Also, his Chess Beauty series: http://www.chessvideos.tv/chess-video-s ... min=&dmax=This Live Blitz video illustrates an interesting gambit in the Sicilian: viewtopic.php?t=9372Two excellent analysis videos by katar that compliment each other really well: viewtopic.php?t=9228viewtopic.php?t=9271An amusing LC by Cazzeo against an audacious GM: viewtopic.php?t=8551Two analysis videos by curtains with very clear explanations: viewtopic.php?t=9602viewtopic.php?t=9407In this one, we can follow his thought process when facing tactical situations: viewtopic.php?t=9511

 Re: ChessVideos.TV classics series
Great thread! I'm happy to post some of these to the front page as a series if people are willing to write posts. If you log in using your forum username to chessvideos.tv/dash you can submit front page stories. Then if you give me a heads-up and I approve, I can post it.
Or it can continue in this thread. I enjoyed the series on the homepage, but I just don't have time to write good enough posts!

 Re: ChessVideos.TV classics series
Curtains 13-part series on Nalchik 2009: http://www.chessvideos.tv/chess-video-s ... min=&dmax=Ideally, a person would watch all 13 videos in order. However, if you can only commit the time to watch one, make it the final round #13: curtains, Nalchik 2009, final round #13, coverage and wrap-up viewtopic.php?t=5240I watched this whole series twice i think. You can watch and pause the video at points and try to compare your intuition to Curtains.
