 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
Not bad at all. Started hanging out with my old friends from high school, playing chess a bit more- so I thought I'd log in to see how everyone's doing. Sort of quiet, but that's cool.

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
My theory is that things are so quiet because the proprietors are putting less effort into it. Back in the early days Josh was very active as the site evangelist/head cheerleader and he injected a lot of energy and enthusiasm into the community. CVTV is still Josh and admin's baby, but their baby has grown up and is now living on its own (though it still asks for money and brings laundry home on weekends...).

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
They are still slowly enhancing the site, but not significantly participating in the forums.

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
That's a shame because Josh did a number of really excellent videos- I hope he returns to active duty some day.

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
I agree. I get the sense that Josh finished grad school and is too busy starting his career to be a regular. I can relate because I don't have much time to spend on chess these days, which is why I only pop in 1-2 times per week, watch 1-2 videos per month, and am not very active in the forums anymore. People's lives and priorities change; that's just the nature of life. Given the fleeting nature of the internet, things have been very stable here for five years which is actually quite impressive despite all the old-timer reminiscing about the more energetic "old days."

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
I get that! I got a job as production manager for a wholesale printing company that keeps me pretty busy. I also do web development/graphic design on the side, all of which keeps me pretty busy.

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread
Well, two jobs will do that for you -- especially if one is a major time sink. These days it's good to just have one. I got laid off 3 years ago and it took me nearly 2.5 to find another one. It keeps me quite busy but it's fun! I got lucky and fell into a second career that suits me very well.
