Yes Steve, I think your comments are spot on. Just wondering about the content material. The oldest referance I could see on this vid was from a game in 2002. I know this may not be too important in it'self, just it makes me wonder if the content material is just the old Chess Assistant stuff? Obviously Chess Assistant lacked this programs functionality. I also last year on the net saw on a Russian site something called ' Chess School ', which kinda seemed like Chess Assistant too. Just wondering if the same car is getting clocked multiple times. Just a thought, I may very well be wrong.

PS, Man, your coming hard and fast with these vids - great job, but your taking up way too much of my life today.

Perhaps this might be a CA type program as it does read CA files when no one else will. Probably some of the code was copied, I don't know. I was just fooling around with the Chess Tactics Level 3 and when I left click the 'whats this' it brings up the help files for a program named PESHKA. I'm not too sure, but isn't that a CA program as well?

Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun with the Tactics Level 3, really difficult stuff, some stretching several moves and complex patterns. Diego said that Alexandra always uses Tactics 3 to sharpen her game before tournament play, and I must confess, I found several of the problems very difficult - a lot different than I have ever found on Chess Tactics Servers.

I will put off doing the Tactic Level 3 video to give both of us a rest At least for a couple of days.

I got 5 of the 6 training courses, they are nice and the interface is nice, although be aware that they duplicate Peshka's material.

I also have Chess King, but I doubt that I will use it much once I am done with the training puzzles. Chessbase is a medium, you can read books in it, you can watch very nice Fritz trainers in it. I don't see anything new or innovative about Chess King, they have just slapped together a database with the engine.

Thumbs up for the training material. Thumbs down for the Chess King/Houdini.

I agree with you on the superiority of Chessbase, but I do see a plus in the Chess King program for beginners and family situations. I have done quite a lot of coaching over the years, mostly geared towards adults. But with the few kids I did coach, who ever brought them to the lesson, be it mom, dad or older sister, they almost all said it would be cool if there were a program that they could use for the whole family.

I don't know anything about Peshka but from some quick research I believe that you (and others) may be right, Chess King looks familiar. Early on, when Fritz and Chessbase came out, those were the programs I use. I use Chessbase for the bulk of my work, Fritz for overnight analysis and SCID I use mainly to develop opening tables, a la, ECO/MCO.

I vote in a similar manner to you, Thumbs up for the training software. While I find Chess King lacking at my level, I can see it's use in households and chess clubs.
