Re: Dennis M.: Quick Ruy 33: Zaitsev Variation [83:08]
I wanted to commend the uniformly excellent quality of this series.
Both White and Black can aim for play on all 3 sectors of the board, so i am convinced that a study of the Ruy Lopez is a fairly comprehensive study of the middlegame in chess. I can understand why some folks have said that you don't really know anything about chess until you've learnt something about this opening. To that end, i don't know of a better or more economical resource than this video series.
much love & RESPECT.

After watching this awesome video, I tried the Yates with 10.Be3 for the first time in a last round game against a 2300 (I was actually expecting the Marshall) and won, which gave me a shared 1st and some cash

I do agree what you have stated above, 'you don't really know anything about chess until you've learnt something about this opening'. For those who are not aware how to play this, Chess is the most difficult game but for those who know how to play this game this is the most interesting game to play.
