Well...just got back from my local chess club...played the best chess I've played in ages (if not ever)! I ended up playing a total of 5 games against Rob and Mike (rated 2000 and a former master, currently 2100 or so respectively) and scored a combined 2.5/5 +3=1-1!!! I've been able to beat them occasionally and draw a few, but I have never won more than I lost against either of them much less them combined! Went +2=0-1 vs. Rob and +1=1-0 vs. Mike in a bunch of good games and I actually managed to tactically outplay Mike in one of them :D.

Either I've gotten a lot better really suddenly (as in from last Tuesday to now) or am just having the most incredible chess day of my life. I'm hoping it's the former, but regardless, off to cts to take as much advantage of this day as I can!!! :D

Thanks Josh.

I'm afraid I overdid the cts (rule of thumb: never practice when you can barely keep your eyes open :) ) and lost a couple rating points tonight, but my ct blitz rating I brought back up a bit, now at 2051.

haha, that's a lesson I've learned the hard way on CTS. Playing when tired is very frustrating :(

Well did about 40 minutes of cts made no progress, still 1592 although I did go back up into the 1600's.

And on ct did about 30 minutes or so, made a little but of progress now 2122.

Seems like their ratings still haven't quite levelled out yet, eh?

Just saw:

Requiem for a Dream 10/10: undoubtably one of the most powerful movies I've ever seen, truly incredible. This is a brutal film and is not for the weak stomached, but everyone should see it. Extremely well acted and directed, the film also has one of the things that few films have, a genuine moral built on throughout the film instead of just a few non-sincere tacked on lines at the end. As for it's Oscars, it's a crime, no other word will do it justice. Ellen Burstyn gives arguably the best female performance ever yet she lost to Julia Roberts, a crime I say! In addition to which, that was this films only nomination, truly sad. In addition to Memento this is one of the saddest cases of modern movies being shunned although really Oscars aren't the end all be all, it's still a crime. Anyways, everyone should this, but really, only watch if you think you can handle it.

ah, I saw this one and it's a pure brilliancy :thumright: One of my favorites movies of all time. Really really heavy one. It's quite sad that most people didn't even hear about it
