 Chess book with endgame puzzles
Hi there
I am kind of looking for a book with a lot of endgame puzzles, where it is like white to move and win or something like that.
I have not really had any luck finding a such book, so I was wondering if you might be able to help me out!
Cheerio!

Re: Chess book with endgame puzzles
A book with a huge amount of endgame puzzles (~4500) is the endgame book of Polgar:"Chess: Endgames by Laszlo Polgar (Dec 2002)", unfortunately it seems out of print and thus the prize at amazon is 60$... Anyway, the book is quite heavy, so it's not suited for carrying around if that is what you want.
Maybe "Chess Endgame Quiz by Larry Evans" with (~200 positions) ~4$ at amazon. I don't have that one.
Do you just want puzzles or an endgame manual?
If you consider working with databases, you could use the freeware "ChessHero" with an endgame database. I gave some links for that in my training journal...

This might be a bit above your level but it is one of my favourite books. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rate-Your-Endga ... 715&sr=1-1

Re: Chess book with endgame puzzles
Well I have another enquiry, if I you get myself ONE general endgame book, which one should it be?
I have heard great things about Silman's Complete Endgame Course, so do you share the view that this is a great buy?

Re: Chess book with endgame puzzles
I don't have a single Silman book, so I cannot comment on that.
On endgames there are several good books covering most of the important stuff. I like Karsten Müller's books "Fundamental chess endings" and "Practical chess endings". You can also download his endgame column stuff at chesscafe. Dvoretzki's "Endgame manual" is another good book, also available as chessbase database.
I think you should make your choice after looking into the book at amazon and chose the one that is making the impression to you. I don't think that the content of those endgame manuals is much different, but the didactic, style and weighting of the endgame types will differ for sure!
