What a douchebag. If you want a draw, earn a draw. And I love how he tries come off like ratings points mean nothing to him and the draw there is so gentlemanly. If he were more confident in his time scrambling he wouldn't have offered the draw; has nothing to do with politeness.

"douchebag" is rubbish. There is no "earn a draw" here. It is a trivial draw. U can premove back and forth here for a minute if u want but it has nothing to do with chess. I imagine lots of professional players love that loads of net players vastly overestimate their game cos they have a quck wrist.

Oh please if you want to actually play chess, you have no business playing 3 0.

Some people can play glorious chess in a 3 min game. So u most certainly can "actually play chess" and still display sportsmanship. The idea that there is no room for sportsmanship in blitz chess is deeply ingrained. Its shabby and its wrong.

sportsmanship my ass. You are playing an entire game with 3 minutes. The clock is a major factor. If you want to play without a time scramble at the end play with an increment or don't complain. There is absolutely no reason not to have a 1 second increment if you want to play "real chess", then you don't have to ever worry about this crap. Until then stop playing ridiculously fast chess and whining when people don't give draws because you or someone else is low on time. It's pathetic.

Obv the clock is a major factor but if the position is a dead draw then stop exercising ur wrist.Playing with an increment is a good idea. But just cos theres no increment doesnt mean u need to descend to premove meaningless squabbling. So yeah indeed sportsmanship ur ass.

Im just after remembering I saw a GM simply resign in a similar situation v Olegas one time. There was about 1 min for the GM and like maybe 3 for Olegas. They had some utterly trivial draw and the GM offered the draw and then just pressed the resign button when Olegas "played on". I was impressed.

In fast chess, the clock is just a bigger factor as a positional or material advantage. if we reach a position where you are up a pawn but only have 10 seconds left on your clock and I have 2 minutes. YOU have mismanaged the game and I have used the clock effectively. I used to be a whiny bitch when I played blitz, if I had a huge position but lost on time I would get angry at my opponent for being "cheap" or "unsportsmanlike" or other meaningless phrases. I then realised this is the realm of blitz so i stopped playing it. Either stop playing or understand the clock is a weapon.

U regard "unsportsmanlike" as a "meaningless phrase".....thats a shame.
U dont have to give up blitz chess cos u were as u put it "a whiny bitch".....u can play with increment and not have to rely on the sportsmanship of others.

Right but no online chess plays 5/1 so you're increment argument is irrelevant.
This strange notion you have of sportsmanship being ingrained into giving your opponent a draw because he has mismanaged his clock is ridiculous.
In blitz the clock is a weapon, you don't seem to get this. Would you give someone a draw if you were up a rook? so why would you give a draw if you are way up on time?
This is what I mean by sportsmanship being meaningless with regards to time in blitz.

"Right but no online chess plays 5/1 so you're increment argument is irrelevant." Simply factually incorrect. U can easily find players playing 3/1 and 5/1 if u look.

"This strange notion you have of sportsmanship being ingrained into giving your opponent a draw because he has mismanaged his clock is ridiculous." This is not the crux of my argument at all. Y do u suggest it is? I am suggesting agreeing a draw if the position is a trivial draw. Chess is a wonderful game, a mix of competitiveness, skill, determination, imagination and more. So if u have 30 secs and ur opponent has 19 and its a trivial opposite bishop ending of equal material and u choose to try to flag him ur a muppet. Simple really. Too bad u dont get it. Anyway Im done.

Rook+2 vs Rook+1 is a lot different than bishop of opposite with equal material
