chess videos for UNICEF! (participation needed!)
I want to donate $500 to UNICEF at supportunicef.org.
I could just do so quietly on my own. But let's make this a public game. Perhaps this will generate discussion and participation.
This is how it will work:
Upload a chess video here at CV.tv and put "UNICEF" as one of the video tags. Sometime this Fall, or as soon as the count reaches 50 qualifying videos, I will do a Video-Search for "UNICEF" and donate $10 for each qualifying video.
A qualifying video will contain content that is prepared rather than improvised. (I.E.: This excludes Live Blitz.)
After I make the donation I will post the scanned receipt as proof. For right now I've decided to cap my donation at $500, just to give us a goal and to see how this goes.
EDIT removing reference to duration.

Just when I thought I couldn't think more highly of you, you go and do something like this.
I will try to do it as well.

$50 donation made. $450 left to go -- let's say Christmas is the arbitrary end-date. Anybody want to match my contribution(s) in this crazy endeavor????

Re: chess videos for UNICEF! (participation needed!)
Been very busy lately but will post some vids over the next few weeks. Thanks again for doing this. I'm not sure how many people are aware of this project- hopefully this will keep getting bumped and remind folks.

Re: chess videos for UNICEF! (participation needed!)
I am sorry I posted that I would participate, and haven't yet made a video. But I assure you, I will! It is hard to come up with something that hasn't been done ad nauseum, but I have a good concept of using various rook and pawn endings, and basic simple ending positions, to identify the proper way forward a bit earlier in the ending, so you know what final defense to shoot for. I've been back in music again, and I just can't do music and chess at the same time, not enough hours in the day! Especially when you work 2 jobs. But as soon as I take a lull from my music project, I'll jump back in to this.

Re: chess videos for UNICEF! (participation needed!)
Big thanks to everyone participating in this Unicef deal. The idea is just to get people thinking about the charity and also to put pressure on myself to follow thru. Maybe someone in the future will wonder why they are seeing a "Unicef" tag on a video and it will lead them to doing a Google search and learning more about the organization and the work they do. I just received an email promoting "Trick or Treat for Unicef" including the link below. Perhaps it is a bit gimmicky, but i might as well link to it here, too. http://youth.unicefusa.org/happy halloween, stay safe from teh hurricane.

Re: chess videos for UNICEF! (participation needed!)
Bump and FYI, i just got an email saying any donations made by December 12 will be matched dollar-for-dollar. So the next donation for this thread will happen on December 11 (to be safe due to time-zone variance) and it will be effectively doubled by the match program. Right now it's at $70. (i.e., 12 videos x $10 less $50 donation already made) See here http://www.chessvideos.tv/chess-video-s ... min=&dmax= That's counting Kamus's two vids without a Unicef tag.

Re: chess videos for UNICEF! (participation needed!)
It's now 2 videos I've made without the UNICEF tag- sigh. Unfortunately, though as a moderator, I can edit certain things, tags are not among them.

Re: chess videos for UNICEF! (participation needed!)
No worries, it would be silly to ask you to delete the videos and re-upload to change the tags.

Re: chess videos for UNICEF! (participation needed!)
why not just analyze an interesting game that you have played? IMO those are often the best videos both for the producer and for the audience. you can really speak with authority about your perspective as the one who played the game.

Re: chess videos for UNICEF! (participation needed!)
Good call. I've been thinking for a while what I can do here, but I don't have time to research an interesting opening to present, and most of the good concept videos already exist. For some reason I thought these UNICEF vids should be a bit more 'special' than just analysing our own game, but if that's okay for you then I'll get on it tommorrow
