Interesting game, though the endgame part was a bit weird.

I once watched a blitz game where a similar pawn structure happened where you showed the pawn on e5 and d6 and the K on h2, Black had his rook on e6 but again, after d7 Black could not stop the pawn. After a real brief think he took the e-pawn and said "Check!" and out of instinct the White player moved his king and after Rd6 White resigned among a lot of laughter from spectators. The guy playing White realized what had happened and it looked like we were at the verge of the first MMA contest ever. The swindler offered to buy a round of drinks and all was forgiven.

So basically, Black should have taken the Ne5 instead of the queen at the start of the not so good combination. Maroczy seemed a bit challenged in complications, so it was a smart decision on Spielmann's part to get the game into a "messy" one.

I liked your comment about the Maroczy Bind; funny how he tried to throw one in there.
