Thanks for the tournament coverage, Steve. Hope you get back into the swing of things soon.

I find that there's this sweet spot for going on a hiatus. You get rusty after too long of a break but with the right amount of time in-between (say, a month or two), you can also emerge inspired and creatively refreshed. Although I'd argue that playing some online blitz (or bullet, in my case) during that period is necessary to not lose the game out of sight completely, and stay tactically sharp.

I agree but my layoffs tend to be a bit longer, a year or two. This is mostly due to work. I've also noticed an improvement from each layoff, at least in the past, but there is usually a lag time for things to settle in. I will play in a few tournaments this year and we'll see what happens.

This was a very nice series despite your personal result. The queen sac was quite imaginative and bodes well for your future play. (We won't discuss Qc6+) And you've proved to everyone that you are indeed the Taylor Swift of Chess! Thanks, Steve!

Thanks Kamus, managed to tie for 1st for the AZ Senior Ch and that includes a 1/2 point bye (had to work). Made money in two tournaments in a row... sadly I made more from this one than in Las Vegas :-(
