hey dude! nice trap! what i was thinking what was better for white on his sitxh move might of been 6 Nf3 x e5 ... Ng x e5
and 7. d4 forking two pieces to gain back material. jus ta thought. i was wondering why he didn't see that lol but great trap!

ohh and after 8 Nh2 you could play ...Rxh2!! and if 9Kxh2 then ...Qh4+!! 10 Kg1 ... g3! and white still gets the same result but similar

You mentioned how 5... Ng4 is good, but I disagree -- rather than the "natural" 6. h3 and 7. hxg4, White could have tried 6. d4! or 6. h3 h5 7. d4! The move d4 seemed natural to me since Black's king is still trapped in the center.

Maybe Black is completely lost after 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. c3 Nf6 5. O-O Ng4? 6. h3 h5 7. d4! :?

Great video! This trap is called the fishing pole (knight as bait). I've only seen it in the Ruy as it comes out of the Berlin Defense (similar to the two Knights Defense in Italian Game) but it's good to know it can occur in other openings.

Check out Brian Wall's body of work on the Fishing Pole. Mostly (as my2girls notes) this line arises more often from the Berlin Defense but Brian has played it all with literally hundreds of games (probably thousands by now). He has developed this line and discovered many finesses. Check out http://www.walverine.com/?id=191 for some of his annotated games in this line (there are a whole lot more).
Also, here is a video of me vs. Gentlewhisper in the Berlin version of the line- though Brian told me that retreating the knight in the game as I did was a weenie thing to do, I still won.

At the end, another option was Rxh2+!, Kxh2, Qh4#. Fishing pole as others have pointed out from Brian Wall (same idea occurs in Ruy Lopez Exchange line with 0-0, Bg4, h3, h5, though that doesn't lead to a forced mate if played correctly!
