The alternative opening moves with the Qd6 looks good and seems easy to play. It would be interesting to see the link to the site that talks about this.
11...Bg4 was something I looked at with the same idea as you with Qd5 but in the game I saw that it's not possible because of 11...Bg4 12.d4 Qd5 13.Nc3 which I belive it is good for white. The reason I played Ne4 was that it was forcing and I had seen the variations. I was expecting to give up the pawn knowing I at least should be able to draw in such a position which is what I needed for the tournement win. Still I think Bg4 is better just because it's awkward for white.
After black plays 21.Qc3 Bf3 I calculated that there was no defence to winning the piece for black but the best continuation after 23..cxd4 Nxf3 is Qxg3+
I think my opponent played 10.Bb4 because he wanted to develop his knight but then found out it wasn't possible to do so because of the tactics. The move Re8 is a move black wants to make anyway and Bb4 is not an improvement of the bishop.
If you don't mind my asking, SJPlayer, what is your rating? Also, what tournament was this?

I played in a tournament at my club for lower rated players between 1000-1400. After this tournament my rating went up 100p so I have 1300 in rating at the moment. Winning the tournament means I can move up to a higher level which is going to be fun.
