Yo Yo!

Not gonna give up the final result of the Reykjavik City Ch. just yet. Haven't been through games just yet and only did 3 videos of the 9 rounds. Last weekend I played the Icelandic League and did ok, scoring 2.5/3 vs 2200 avg rating opposition. That should make up for the loss I had in another tournament so I should be gaining a little bit so far in 2012.

Tough to make videos these days because after the league I now just started Reykjavik Open. My favourite tournament. 2 rounds gone by so far, I beat a tough 1850ish player in the 1st round but then lost on the stage vs 2666 Yuriy Kryvoruchko even though I got my Winawer variation. I gave my opponent too much respect and my time management was abysmal to say that least.

Homepage of tournament is here: http://skaksamband.is/?c=webpage&id=530

My game is somewhere here: http://live.chess.is/2012/RvikOpen2012/r2/tfd.htm Unfortunately not my best but ok not embarassing either. I need to check if I can get away with some c4 moves early and my mistake was probably cxd4 and again Nce7/Ke8/Rhf8 are all suboptimal moves.

I also did a commentary show. My first time in front of the camera for a while. I did some commentary on the Icelandic late news in about 2003 but then I was younger, more handsome and with more hair ;-)

Aye, Good luck Zibbit!

Thanks for the links. Lookin' sharp in the suit, dude.

Interesting to see the g4/h4 ideas in the video and I'm looking forward to seeing the results of the GM's clashing!

Awesome video.

You and Simon were hilarious and the games were interesting, especially the last one.

Probably, this is the best livestream I've ever seen. I can't wait to see Round 4!

Thanks!

I got round 4 off but did the round 5 show tonight.
http://www.livestream.com/reykjavikopen ... m=ui-thumb

Tournament not going too well. Getting some crappy pairings, almost only playing Icelanders which is boring. Been paired down 5 of the 6 rounds and only managed 2 draws against 2100 guys last 2 rounds. The 4th round I missed several good moves and one killing move (like mate in 11) and instead allowed a drawn position immedately after the timetrouble.
Today in 5th I just played way too safe and didn't achieve anything and my opponent got a rather easy draw.

I play Havard Skoien a 2100 Norwegian player and I must beat him to start to get some good opponents and meaningful games from this tournament.

Then I'm sure all of cv.tv wishes you good luck against Mr. Skoien. Crush him my friend! Another great video, nearly burst my speakers when @ 21:00 when the fire alarm turned on though,

Didnt do it, god damn fail every time recently playing GM's OTB. Still can't understand what went wrong, I thought he sacked a pawn somewhat dubiously but maybe it was fine, need to check it.

Dang it, another draw with a 2164 this time. Ok with black but I had a good ending. Really been made to work for all my points vs 2100's and so far 3/4 only managed to draw. Has to be said though that the guy today and in the 6th round both played really well and chess can be hard with the black pieces vs competent opponents. I hope I will get around to making videos because round 6 and 8 more or less much more interesting than most of the games in the Reykjavik City Championships where to be honest some of the games were more or less target practise.

Last round tomorrow, white vs a 2000ish rated Canadian guy named Murray or something like that. Need to win for damage control.

Well, sounds like the games are starting to be more worthwhile for you at least. The venue looks amazing and the side-events sound great so I hope you're still having a fun time.

I'd love to see video commentary on 6 & 8 (as well as your upcoming victory over Canadian Murray something!) or another video in your endgame series (which are amazing, probably are helping my rating more than anything) whenever you felt up to it.

Good luck in the last round.

Thanks as always, mucho grande appreciato (multiplle languages in one there ;-) )

I have fun always, the social part is the great thing about this tournament. Always nice to meet foreign friends, love that part....and well maybe could be reason why I never do as well as I want in these ;-)
