The single moves that take a minute and a half are always so painful to watch. I find myself screaming at my screen for you to move, only to realize that the game is hours if not days old. If not for that, I think this would have been a very interesting game. However, all curtains vids are entertaining and appreciated. You'll give him hell next time.

Hi curtains, I play this line, and I was taught that Black's best idea at 14... is Bxc2, then Nc5-e6-d4. The idea being to take the weak d4 square. Don't know what you think about that?

I understand it as such, since white's trying to avoid exchanges and sit on a spacial advantage, Bxc2 sense from that perspective (and pretty much only that perspective; it's not like Nc2 is doing very much and the bishop just found life). The Nc2 line is not as forcing as other lines and White's idea I think is just to sit on the Maroczy bind, and it's hard for black to do anything.

I dunno..maybe thats ok but the line I mentioned at the very end with ...a4, Qa5 seems quite reasonable also?

I just now have watched video L257 to see the a4 Qa5 line, I didn't see that before your reply. a4 definitely seems reasonable and good. I double checked my own notes on Bxc2, and I also have White playing b3 there.

Without b3 played though I like a4 too. That obviously holds up a4. It's a little funny since White's often playing b3 in Maroczy positions, just not usually to stop a4. I guess if White's not going to solidify the queenside, Black may as well try to undermine it.
