Wow, welcome and best wishes for 2009 :). That's a great game against a very tough opponent. It's very nice to hear your thought process during critical parts of the game, that's instructive.

Welcome and thank you very much for sharing. Was nice to watch :)

Had to smile a bit when you stated that you worried about " a miniature spreading all over the world"...was cute. So even Masters get fidgety sometimes :)

Dear Graham,

Very much enjoyed the game. Watched the whole thing. I really appreciate your commentary style...sounds as if you're telling us a story, which I find very engaging. I think your mentioning of the emotional elements of the game contributed to this (e.g. "He made the move immediately"). I'm looking forward to future videos. Welcome to the forum.

Graham,

Thanks, that was a terrific demonstration of active counterattacking defense. Great video and hope to see more!

:D Hi Graham and welcome to cvtv. Great to see a fellow Scotsman, and a titled one at that, making videos for the site. Great game with loads of critical points. A real tightrope walk indeed. Great uncomplicated comentary which was both relaxed and honest. It must be nervewracking coming back after such a long lay off and facing John Emms!! Great result. Hope for more and hope to bump into you on the Scottish tournament circuit. I only make the majors BTW but if you are competing I'll have to take a peep at your play.

Regards Bruce

Welcome to the site, and thanks so much for taking the time to share your game with us. I feel invigorated to study and improve after hearing you tell us about your in-game experiences. It's always nice to know that even titled players sometimes feel anxiety and confusion about positions...and its helpful that you explain your thought processes that helped dictate your moves. Anyways, thanks again and I hope you'll find time to share more of your analyses with us - like FM Monokroussos on here, you make the study process fun and entertaining.

Nobody likes losing in a few moves. When I was a youngster at my first chess club, one of the old hands (Les Melvin) told me that his golden rule was to never resign before the bottom of the left hand column of the scoresheet - that way tournament organisers would never think that he had lost a miniature and give it to the local newspaper!

Cheers,
Graham

I'm glad you enjoyed the Emms video. I've tried to be as honest about my thoughts in the two subsequent videos (against GMs Fier and McDonald). I do like complex chess but more often than not I end up confusing myself way more than my opponent!

Cheers,
Graham

Very enjoyable, this game became very reminiscent of some 3...Qd6 Scandinavian where everything is on a knife edge. I will watch this one several times for its instructive value.
