Awesome as always!! Your vids keep on getting better and better. It's great having an insight into how the 'top' players think but it also shows how strong a player you are yourself because you can almost always spot what's going on!! Plus you're probably becoming a better player because of this (I hope ) Keep up the good work!!

Not sure if it is appropriate, if I should ask this question.
Are you gonna do this every day?

Btw: Isn't this round 7 instead of round 8?

Thanks for the coverage of these games. I came home tonight thinking I was going to watch basketball... boy was I wrong! For me to turn off the basketball games at this time of year is about as high of praise as I can give anyone! Keep it up. Your hard work is appreciated!

Well not tomorrow because there's a rest day. It takes over an hour and I don't get anything concrete for it, so I can't promise that I'll be doing it every day :)

Hey Curtains, nice job with the Meier Navara game. I need to sleep, but I'm looking forward to watching the other half tomorrow. Thanks for posting.

First time poster. I want to say thanks for all the videos. I am really enjoying your analysis of the Super Gm games. One thing the first video reminded me of was how strong you are tactically. It's easy to get wrapped up thinking you are just a solid, positional, endgame expert until you bust out the sick tactics in a post-mordem.

Well you better play at least one 5-minute game and give us that :) ... Just kidding. I love the coverage your doing of these games, and I really like how you look up the players stats, I would have never thought to do that until seeing you do it, except for the occasional Wiki-Pedia if a chess player is in the news. I like your called shot on the last game being a quick draw too, and how Kobalia is the new bad guy, and we want him to lose. I'm with you on that, I hope he gets smoked his next game.

Your coverage is much appreciated, Thank You!!

curtains, regarding the karpov games,

i find that your ramblings about positions are often more instructive than, for example, annotated karpov games. when you're studying a karpov crush, the annotations don't explain all the little tactics and things that we scrubs miss. and karpov games tend to be over my head, even when annotated. your explanations are much more practical and real-world than the vast majority of annotations i've read.

even when you make mistakes in analysis and miss moves, it's very instructive to see what a strong player is looking at and thinking about, even if it's occasionally inaccurate. it's like getting a little peek into your thought process, and it's very very instructive.

please continue with the "radio show", it is very entertaining!

and we would love to hear from ms. vicary as well!

44.Bg7 Rg7 25.Nh6 seems to work

1:02:36
61.Qc7 is mate not just losing a rook

I do not understand Kobalia. He just seems better do not know what is black going to do in that position.
And with simple google Dmitry Bocharev is Bochkarev on icc.

curtains, the games in the ICC library list are in the order that they finished during the live broadcast. When a game finishes, they just save it in the library. That's why the short draw yesterday was the first game in the list. They aren't in any order of boards. But the 5 games are the top 5 boards.

By the way, yesterday's video was on round 6, not round 8 as it says in the title.

Cool videos! Have you considered making a few bucks selling the videos to ICC? Usually ICC has a "Game of the Day" video by a GM during the biggest events such as Corus and Linares. But for the European Championship they don't have any videos. Of course you would tell ICC you want to have the video here too, they don't get exclusive rights :)

Thanks for confirming my view that going over unannotated games and not just the greatest ones is helpful :) . Now Im going to do even more of that.

Wow another one! To answer your question: this is definately better than just doing annotated games. Especially those annotators that just give a variation and then push the =-button. I actually hah the idea to just look at GM-games myself too and see if I can learn something on my own. Atm I'm just too busy with uni, but then again I'm even watching these 70 min videos hmm...

About the Marshall-game, I wanted to point out that Nxc4 doesn't work, not because the bishop goes to d3, not b3, so that it can be defended by Rxd2 the next move if it is attacked by the white knight.

About the third game (Richter-Rauzer game) he played Nh5 and g4 and stuff, but then all the action happened on the queenside and his knight turned out to be misplaced on the kingside. Or at least he had to re-rout the thing from g3-e4 to the queenside.
I was wondering what your general/superficial opinion would be about the following different plan for white: how about playing Ng3-f1-e3-d5? Maybe white could've done that after black's move Bb5 or maybe even later. It's a strong square and we get some good knight-bad bishop situation. I haven't looked at it deeply or anything, but maybe in conjunction with your Rc1 and c4 idea so the black attack won't do much. Do you think that plan is an option or is black just fine after activating his bishop with for example Bd8-b6?
