Thanks for the primer on the KID. I have often tried to explain to students the nuances of the KID, but I can never remember all these salient points. Do you have the pgn or cb files on the KID part? I'd like to share this with others and it would save me from copying by hand.
Dennis, you always come up with interesting presentations, thank you for putting so much thought into your work here.

 Re: Dennis M - Don't Be a Zombie: Openings [34:59]
I watched this last night in lieu of TV as I was going to bed. I only made it about halfway (hoping for the osmotic learning technique I suppose) before falling asleep. So far I think this is a brilliant new concept for a series of videos. My biggest gripe about your videos (if you call it a gripe) is the overly tactical or concrete lines usually presented, and I have craved your general ideas etc. This is very different than say the Najdorf videos which were very much line by line, concrete analysis. These mental processes are to me just as important if not more important than concrete aspects of chess. Nice vid. I'll watch the second half tonite as I fall asleep again LOL

 Re: Dennis M - Don't Be a Zombie: Openings [34:59]
Another instance where I frequently make use of Zombie chess by the opponent is the Caro-Kann advance. After 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 I play 3...c5. Now the most challenging lines are 4. dxc5 and those with an early c4 by white but many club players just continue like it was a normal CK advance or maybe an advance French. After something like 4. c3 Nc6 5. Nf3 Bg4 6. Be2 e6 black gets a very good position. I think that this 3...c5 line can only be punished with some very specific knowledge by white and works very well against Zombie chess.

 Re: Dennis M - Don't Be a Zombie: Openings [34:59]
as a first time poster, longtime lurker, and (shamefully admitted) zombie... well, THANKS! It only stands to reason that i should think out my moves... a game of chess is like a swordfight and all that. and yet... i do end up playing in a foolish and undead manner if i encounter something unfamiliar. a good lesson for me, myself and other patzers out there i suppose. anyways, looking forward to more vids from dennis m.
