I wasn't going to post this video, but when the amazing coincidence of Aleric's experience popped up, I thought that it was worth sharing. I hope to do some videos and analysis from my hometown chess tournament this weekend. Just got to remember to take the videos at the tournament :) If you wish, you can see the tournament details at www.blayneychessclub.com The only thing that isn't mentioned is that the time control is 60' plus 10" increment from the start for the game. |

Re: philwillb - Tactics and Coincidence [42:25] Good video, but there is something your doing wrong when you solve tactics. When you solve tactics try to calculate everything before you move, including your opponents next moves. In most the tactics you solved, you didn't anticipate your opponents reaction. Ex(were the king is going to move to). Meaning you calculating with intuition. Intuition isnt bad but its no excuse for calculation, and in a real game you wouldn't guess a critical tactic because it looks good.
