Hi Katar!
I think you describe chess better then many opening books. I realy lurning from this. You must bee a natrual at teching... and spend a lot of time preparing.
I would love to see a serie of your answer to 1d4 also. That is my big weaknes.

Thank you very much!

Painkiller: Thx, a comment like that makes these videos worth posting.

The main point i want to promote is that, in the gambits and sidelines after 1.e4 e5, WHITE has every bit as much to FEAR as Black. If white breaks principle or does not show proper respect, White can (and deserves to) get mercilessly thrashed in 20 moves.

Once finished, this will be the only complete repertoire on 1...e5 for Black, in VIDEO format, that i know of! I'd love to see a professional production from Foxy Openings, Fritz-Trainer, Roman Lab, Bad Bishop, etc. but there isn't one.

Well, Katar - you have done a great thing here. Seriously, although this was a no-budget production, the presentation and the material are easily on a par with professional tapes like the Foxy Openings. I'm behind in getting this entire repertoire in CPT, but I'll get there eventually.

Thanks again :!:

Thanks for the comments. :P

I posted the PGN above in this thread so the "PGN Import" function in CPT should make it easier. I also posted a PGN in the "Vienna/Bishops" thread.

The remaining topics <Ruy Lopez> and <Spanish Four Knights> are strategically rich and well over my head. Indeed this is the mature part of the repertoire where White shows proper respect to Black and the two sides play as adults rather than children. White decides to win with "real chess" rather than with gimmicky gambits and cheapos on f7.

Thanks Katar, I've been playing the 3...exf4 line for many years now and no one seems to know how to handle it. Fortunately, I've not faced the King's gambit from higher rated players

Top notch stuff, as always!

the last 2 or 3 months i've been playing falkbeer against the KG but I always go e4 e5 f4 d5 exd5 c6, which is a line i have in a book i think, something about nimzovichs move, because the original idea was exd5 e4 but there is a refutation to that line or something, but to be honest, 90% of the time after d5 the opp pauses to think for a while.

Obviously I'm way behind on my video viewing... I just managed to watch this one. As always, it was great! Thank you so much for doing this series.

Who cares about production values? It's the quality that counts -- and you have a really clear vision of what you're trying to do and a real gift for presenting it clearly. That's quite the rarity in any form of chess instruction -- and that's far more valuable to club players than any glossy book or DVD from some GM who doesn't really know how to teach at that level.

Keep up the good work. I'm eagerly awaiting the next one!

Here you said "black has compensation for the pawn except he is not a pawn down". But f4 drops next move.

Right, i noticed that too. Unfortunately when i talk extemporaneously for 30+ minutes i will make several mistakes. There are also analytical mistakes in most of the videos too.

That being said i think that position is still tremendous for black ,even a pawn down.

In one day i played two games (different opponents) that reached the same winning position after 14 moves!

This must be a popular line so i thought i'd mention it. Note this is the same line singled out by chesstv's comment above.

It has some resemblance to the Scandinavian Icelandic Gambit:
1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Nf6 3.c4 e6 4.dxe6 Bxe6 5.d4 Bb4+ 6.Nc3 Ne4 7.Qd3 Bf5

i felt that this was a reasonable demonstration of this opening!
lot of typical ideas here, like keeping the B/c8 clear to come to h3 until fxg3 would be a check; leaving the 6th rank clear for the queen to swing over and recapture on d6; using the c7-c5 push to contest white's center; using the Nd7-b6 maneuver to hit c4 and d5 with tempo; cramping effect of the P/f4, etc.
5/0 blitz game.
