Why would anyone want to skip your intros?
They are usually instructive and puts me in the picture, hence the later game is much more fun watch.

Have not watched the video yet though.

hi steve

thansk for another nice video. I liked the intro as I infact is thinking about taking a visit in a chessclub tonight in a city nearby, I have never been in a chessclub before but think I will give it a try.

Great video. I like the intros because it gives you the feel for the tournament atmosphere. Similar to the format of Calm's videos. Keep up the good work.

Awesome! Hope you enjoy the chess club. Over-the-board play is what I like most, seeing your opponent grimace and twitch when you throw an unexpected move his way. I just can't get into internet chess, feels like kissing your sister to me when there are other -non related!- girls out there.

Have fun and good luck. You'll probably run into someone that will be glad to give you some pointers if need be.

Cool video! I'm sure you saw this but I think you meant to say the threat for black was Qf1# at around the 27 minute mark. (Hence white's defense Qd1 -- not just guarding f3 but in fact guarding f1. Or f4, breaking the bishop's defense of the knight on h2 so that Qf1+ could be met by Kxh2.)

Thanks Laurent, good eye. So many things to see in this game and my need to rush to get the video out before returning to work. This was one crazy game!

Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall. Just another day in my life.

Hey nice video.

I just wondered one thing. In the position where black sacrificed the exchange:

Wouldn't the simple Bxf3 mount to the same thing without being material down?
So after ...Bxf3 / Bxf3 Qh4

Looks pretty cool to me :D

Hi GW,
I'm heading out the door for work right now, but I think that the bishop on the diagonal adds a lot to the fight for Black. I'll have to look at this idea when I get home.

Post Re: sfarmer29 - Tucson Open 2010 Part One [65:19]
I think that 2 obvious moves like
a) Bxa1
b) Bxg4

both don't work due to Qxf2+ with Qf1+ and mate to follow.
Also black threatens 1...Bxh2+ and white of course can't play 1.g3 due to Qh2+
Maybe 1.h3 is intersteing...1...Qxf2+ 2. Kh1 Qg3 3.Kg1 and then think about Rxf3...?
I assume I will have missed sth totally obvious because whenever I think I am clever I usually end up proposing stupid things^^
Not that starting an attack with an exchange sac isn't quite fancy but I jsut wondered ;)

GW, I've been thinking about this at work, so I don't have a set or the exact position in front of me, but maybe White can generate counter-chances with Ne4 or maybe Qc2, I don't know. Seems like the h-pawn is doomed, and h3 opens him up to more sacrifices (to further weaken an already weakened kingside).

Wow, It's crazy seeing everyone I know in this video! I only wish I was there to participate in this tournament as well! I completely agree with what you are saying in the beginning of this video; if my opponent is adjusting my pieces without saying "I adjust" then he is committed to taking whatever piece he touched that he can legally take. I would call Kiki over and explain the situation again, and i think that after that healthy dose of medicine he would refrain from touching my pieces without saying "I adjust".

Wait...he adjusted his opponents pieces ?
That isn't legal at all, is it ?

CrazyHunter: Yeah, I don't know if I'd make a federal issue over the touching of the pieces, more like tell him he has to take my f-pawn and when he asks why, then explain the proper etiquette, but not force him to take the pawn. Now, if it was someone I didn't like (nobody springs to mind) then things would be different. Heck, I've even offered to let people take back a move that was a blunder, but they all abide by the rules and take their punishment.

gentlewhisper: I am going to try and look at your suggestion and address it in my next video.

All: Thanks for viewing and voting! I am working on a video of the Reserve Champion, Nate Cromer - Perfect score of 5-0! As soon as I can I'll be posting his game against Steve Ostapuk in the final round. Steve missed some chances early on in that game.

Remember, vote early and often!
